This week's theme for Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday prompt is "vintage." Fossil is one company that does vintage really well. I thought this shot of hotdogs and fries was a good subject for this week's theme.
Cremeland is a local haunt open in the spring and summer months. I love diners and old signs.
For this week's Texture Tuesday play, I layered several elements. I started with the photo of the angel. I tried many things in the background and settled on some paper with script and layered various textures and colors. The Kim Klassen "sweet treat" and "gray day" textures were used to lighten and soften the angel. {click image to see enlarged}
I am having a blast with the weekly Texture Tuesday challenges. Having a weekly goal to participate in the challenge helps me to make time to play with photography. I used Kim Klassen's "golden" and "coffee, tea, or me" textures to alter this photo of a tea cup and tulips.
Here is a look at the photo before processing it. I am amazed at how I can take a weak photo and make it more interesting by applying some texture to it.
This week the participants are all working with images of tea cups or coffee mugs. It is like a virtual coffee klatch. Swing by the blog hop to see more cool rendered photos.
Kim Klassen's "Serendipity" texture was the required element in today's Texture Tuesday challenge. Click on any of the photos to enlarge.
Here is a look at my photo before I altered it. Quite vibrant, isn't it?
I applied some other textures that I have in my files to lighten the photo before applying "serendipity." I also copied the photograph and desaturated the color and took the transparency down to bring in some of the color.
It was a moment of serendipity that the photo I opened up today to alter was of roses. I had been listening to Edith Piaf singing La Vie en Rose.
IN ENGLISH
"Life in Rosy Hues"
Eyes that gaze into mine, A smile that is lost on his lips— That is the unretouched portrait Of the man to whom I belong.
When he takes me in his arms And speaks softly to me, I see life in rosy hues. He tells me words of love, Words of every day, And in them I become something. He has entered my heart, A part of happiness Whereof I understand the reason. It’s he for me and I for him, throughout life, He has told me, he has sworn to me, for life. And from the things that I sense, Now I can feel within me My heart that beats.
In endless nights of love, A great delight that comes about, The pains and bothers are banished, Happy, happy to die of love.
For you my sweet friends, I hope you see life in rosy hues.
This week our texture challenge was to use Kim Klassen's "silence" and "sweet treat" textures. I wanted to break the silence just a bit and pulled the small text that was in the upper right hand corner and made a copy, enlarged it, and blended it to add a little noise in the negative space. I love my solitude as much as I love visiting with friends. It is a sweet treat to share a cup of tea in a beautiful cup or a robust cup of coffee in a hearty mug.
Here is a look at the tea cup before I tweaked the photo. This lovely cup and saucer is part of my friend Claudia's collection.
Be sure to check out how others are taking up the weekly texture challenge.
This week's texture play uses Kim Klassen's "silence" and "dusty rose" textures. I'm actually fascinated by the shadow sections of the photos that I'm altering these days.
Here is a look at the original photo. Sort of blah and flat, don't you think?
Be sure to check out Kim's site. I love what she does with photography and texture. Each Tuesday other creatives play with her textures and share them in a blog hop.
Today's altered photo uses a Kim Klassen texture called "warm sun". I used the same texture repeatedly only tweaking the blending mode. I love the results.
Here is a look at the original photo.

One of my favorite altered photos using a Kim Klassen texture is this photo of Nubble Light. I call it my "Beacon of Love." Today is "Texture Tuesday" and Kim has invited us to post our favorite photo and to share it on her site. Here I use the "Live, Love, Laugh" texture.
