Posted here are a few photos of the sand sculptures that were on display at the 11th Annual Hampton Beach Master Sand Sculpting Competition. Here are a few facts that I learned about the competition.
- Only sand and water are the only materials used. A final coat of a bio-degradable material such as school glue and water is sprayed over to seal it.
- Thin wires are placed at the tops of each sculpture to prevent birds from landing on the piece and causing damage.
- It is a times event and each competitor is given a total of 21 hours over 3 days to complete their sculpture.
- It is a solo event and no one is allowed in the plot other than the sculptor.
- Each competitor has 10 tons of sand.
Enjoy!
