What a delightful surprise to open my mailbox to find this water bottle rigged and repurposed as a mailing tube.
Catherine Calvetti, a dear soul who has been following my blog for many years now was clearing out her studio and collected an assortment of items to mail my way. Her note reads, "Kathryn, Just a little random act of kindness to thank you for all your inspiration. Blessings, Catherine."
Tucked inside were some Artist Trading Cards (ATC) with faith-filled messages. As I was flipping through the pretty cards I thought that these cards needed to go out into the world and couldn't stay with me.
It struck me in a flash what to do next. I brought the cards into the office and left them on a colleague's desk for her to discover. This colleague, Eileen, is a woman of deep faith who shares her love for Christ in her work that welcomes people into the Catholic Church. I thought she might like passing out these little messages.
Pictured here is Eileen with a card she picked for herself.
It is a quote that she has used in special projects and is meaningful for her. The first card found it's new home.
Another colleague and woman of strong faith picked a pretty card and posted it on her bulletin board.
It was so fun to see the enthusiasm for these cards. They were so welcomed!
Fran posted her card on a shelf where she could easily see it as she works.
I had a crazy, hectic week at the office. It felt good to take a break to pay forward Catherine's "random act of kindness."
When Beth pulled this card it spoke to all of us. I know I needed to see this message as I was cranking out the work to meet the deadlines. It really helped me to be patient and kind the rest of the week when people popped into my office.
The more I thought of it, the more I realized that we all need this message. So, I scanned the card and laminated 80 copies. I went around the office after hours and left them secretly on the keyboards of 40 of my colleagues and gave 40 to my friend Claudia to do the same for the staff on the other side of the building who work for Catholic Charities New Hampshire.
There are other goodies in the water bottle from Catherine. In fact, there is something I wanted for an upcoming mandala project. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Stay tuned! The mandalas will be featured in my weekly 100 Mandalas series in late February.
Thank you Catherine for your kindness, it made my day and continued to lift me up as I shared your thoughtfulness with others.
Are you inspired by Catherine's random act of kindness? Do you love the water bottle mailing tube?
How will you surprise someone this next week?
Shine your light!
