Yesterday I was heading to Perkins Cove when I had to stop in Cape Neddick, Maine. I've driven by this place so many times and this was my first time stopping by.

I was so happy that they were open.

Colorful bird homes decorate the side of the building (be sure to click the photo to enlarge).

I'm particularly fond of these homes. They remind me of Hagrid's hut in the Harry Potter movies.

I think this one would look great in the breezeway of my little abode.

They come in so many colors. Which one do you fancy?

I stopped by on a good day for they brought out the whole lot.

Each one is so very sweet.

I went around the side of the shop to find the entrance. I'm quite fond of rusty and distressed things.

Add to that my love for swirly things...

and lovely greeters.

I stepped inside to meet the two lovelies behind this charming spot: Stacy and Brenda.

Brenda's Bloomers is Maine's tiniest flower shoppe. They specialize in exquisite wedding blooms and unique memorial arrangements in addition to their darling bird homes, garden antiques, and twig wreaths.

Bedrock Gardens - Assorted Shots

I have a few more shots from my visit to Bedrock Gardens to share.

I really loved all of the Asian influences.

Now this is my idea of lifting weights.

I thought I would end today's post with an interesting tree that was near the pond.

This Saturday is the next open house at Bedrock Gardens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can get the details from their website: www.finegardenart.com. Jill Noonan and Bob Munger open their home (gardens) to the public on four dates. Mark your calendar for June 11th, July 9th, and September 10th. There is no fee to visit the gardens. I recommend giving yourself at least three hours so you have time to enjoy every nook and cranny!

Bedrock Gardens - Wall Sculptures

There seems to be no end to the sculptures at Bedrock Gardens. What a pure delight!

Capturing the details was truly a pleasure. 

I would love this piece to hang in my "nook" a breezeway outside of my house. All of the artwork is available for sale at Bedrock Gardens.

I'm sure you are just as curious as I am to see what is inside the barn at Bedrock Gardens - lots of fodder for more sculptures and garden art!

Bedrock Gardens - Guinea Hens and Blue Flowers

Today I thought I would start with some shots of the garden art next to the wiggle waggle. Click to enlarge this photo to enjoy the details.

Look at the blue glass!

Stunning, isn't it?

I could hear the guinea hens before our paths crossed.

This one recommends that we head over to the right, he says, "Follow the belgian fence and rock wall and you'll find a magnificent blue flower in bloom. Go check it out!"

Here is the Belgian fence our guinea hen friend told us about. Eleven types of apple trees are espaliered in the Belgian style to form a hundred-foot fence. Click on the image to see it enlarged.

Here is a closer look at this beautiful fence.

Along the wall we find lots of hens and chicks.

My what lovely succulents!

Let's keep walking, I'm so curious to find that blue flower.

That guinea hen was right! These blue flowers are stunning, especially on this early spring day.

I thought I would share a few more shots before we call it a day.

Another one of those funky chairs offers us a place to rest and take in the scope of the property.

"Your tour is almost done!" squeeked the bird. "I hope you'll come back to see us again."

Oh Mr. Bird, I'm not ready to leave just yet. Even though we have made our way back to the house, I still have a blog post or two of interesting shots to share. (click on the image above to enlarge)

Bedrock Gardens - Conetown and Wiggle Waggle

Today we enter Conetown, a Pinetum, of fifty or so dwarf and standard conifers.

I continue to be enchanted by all that I see here at Bedrock Gardens.

The CopTop is a copper topped structure, capped by an antique skylight. Rotating seats made from farm detritus allow a 360 degree panorama.

These are very comfortable seats. Have a seat and take in the view.

Here let me help you. I've pulled this one around for you.

A two hundred foot curving water channel, named wiggle waggle leads us back to the barn and house. Click on this image to see it enlarged.

It is time to stretch our legs and wiggle waggle our way to the next garden feature.

I adore all of the details.

Well look who is showing us how to do the wiggle waggle! I would trust her as she speaks from her heart.

Bedrock Gardens - Petit Pond

An eight-foot-high arch of the Acrobats frames a series of waterfalls and ponds. Nestled in there is a Japanese tea house.

Have you done your morning stretches today? Take a moment now to roll that stiff neck of yours. How do I know it is so stiff? I see that  you are sitting at your computer, that is how I know!

Originally a vernal pool, this base pond is ten-feet deep. Salamanders still return each spring to lay their egg masses.

I'm eager to come back in late fall when over thirty Japanese Maples flame into color. The Tea House, with its Murphy bed, anchors the spot for both day and night time enjoyment. I'll have to return to take more photos of the Tea House to show you how darling it is. On this day, there were many people hanging out near it and I didn't want to post photos of them onto my blog.

How sweet and lovely it is here.

Clever sculptures are nestled right in with the live plants.

There is something so soothing in a waterfall. Look upward and you'll see some chairs. I know you want to stay a while, let's go up there and take a seat.

As we walk up the path, be sure to stop and look back on the view. Can you see the Acrobats?

Oh watch out, don't step on the dragon!

"Greetings" says the crane. "I'm so happy you didn't step on my friend the dragon. Take a seat and enjoy the view from here."

Can you hear my "ooohs" and "ahhhs" among the sound of the water flowing in the falls and ponds?

As a child I loved to play in the woods. My imagination ran wild with either an espionage mission or something more magical filled with fairies, gnomes, hobbits, pixies, and the like. This place brings me back and I feel that same sense of wonder and playfulness. Oh it is good to feel young again!

We leave the woods tomorrow and I'll show you some other views at Bedrock Gardens.

Bedrock Gardens - Shiny things in the dark forest

I spy something very shiny in the baxis at Bedrock Gardens. Could it be that this tree is ready for the disco? Is it really sporting a sexy sequin outfit?

Let's move in to take a closer look.

Retired CD's decorate this tree.

After walking through the dark forest we came to the pond where at one end are two thrones. We sat down feeling dwarfed in these chairs. We imagined they were the seats of a Bear King & Queen. What a magical place.

We rested for a while and watched the people on the other side of the pond.

As we pressed on we passed some more interesting large sculptures.

Among my favorite large sculptures are these three that look like figures or maybe sentinels.

A closer look shows the unique materials that are used. I just love all of the colors, textures, patterns, and shapes.

These detailed shots are among my favorite photos of the day.

Believe it or not, there is still more! Tomorrow we will work our way to the petit pond and Japanese tea house.

Bedrock Gardens - A Place to Rest

We've been strolling through the Bedrock Gardens all week. It is time to sit back and relax.
