In the Hobbit tradition, I have a gift for you! My birthday is upon us. 45 years old and life keeps getting better and better. Wow! The 40's are fabulous in so many ways. I feel more peaceful, grounded, confident, and joyful.
Here is a little tidbit about the Hobbit gift giving custom:
Giving gifts was a personal matter, not limited to kinship. It was a form of ‘thanksgiving’, and taken as a recognition of services, benefits, and friendship shown, especially in the past year. Read more on the Smithsonian Magazine blog and learn how to throw a Hobbit style party.
CELEBRATE! What unexpected surprises can you celebrate?
I reached out to my stepmother. I know she has been so sad and lonely these past few months since my Dad passed. After work one day I stopped by and we enjoyed dinner together. Our relationship has changed so much over the years. It went from challenging and difficult to now easy and truly a pleasure. It is amazing how forgiveness can heal the heart and open us up for enjoying today. I offered to make my visits a weekly routine. She is so excited that she will have this to look forward to. I am looking forward to it too.
CELEBRATE! Who can you reach out to this week? Is there someone you've been meaning to reconnect with? Be brave, make the first move. Write a note, send an e-mail, or pick up the phone. This will give you something splendid to celebrate this week.
My husband illustrated one of his successes this week. Pictured above is the radio that he took apart and fixed. Ooooh you should have seen all of the little parts strewn about our work table. He pulled out the sautering tools and strapped on a pair of magnifier glasses with lights to work on the tiny parts. It was something he had never done before. I would hear him exhale an "oh shit" from time to time. He perservered and in the end was doing a happy jig.
CELEBRATE! What are you going to try this week?
Yesterday I had so much fun working with teens in the Circle Program. It is summer camp time and I was invited to be a guest artist. I took lots of photos and have a special blog post planned that will not only show you what we did, but it will have some great resources you can use to host a fabulous art party. Stay tuned!
I received an amazing offer by e-mail but I had to act fast (24 hours) to get the deal. I pulled it off! I designed a new postcard to promote my website TrueNorthArts.com. As soon as they come in, you'll be the first one to see them.
CELEBRATE! What unexpected opportunities have you responded to? What did you pull off?
Now that the "pilot" version of my online class the Journey of the Heart Journal has finished up, I decided to focus on improving the sales page and promotional video. I poured a lot of time into it and I'm tickled with the results. Take a moment to view this video and visit the sales page. I think it does a better job in answering one's questions about the course and you get to see more of what you'll get when you sign up.
CELEBRATE! What is something you've been wanting to focus on and you finally did it?
CELEBRATE! What are you grateful for?
Here is a look at my celebration board this week. SARK gave me this idea to have a celebration board, a place to collect the successes in our lives, when I interviewed her for the Journey of the Heart Journal class (You can access this interview by signing up HERE.) When I was thinking of starting a celebration board I was originally thinking of a bulletin board or chalk board. But alas, I haven't the room to spare on the wall for this.
Then the idea struck me that I could design a celebration worksheet that I could print off and keep posted on my fridge.
It was so fun to see what my husband posted. I know you'll find it interesting to see what your loved ones write in the bubbles. This can be a fun communication tool. One idea is that you can post it and collect moments to celebrate throughout the week. Then on Sundays enjoy a family dinner or special dessert as you read through and chat about the events of the week.
Once one is filled up, I will print off another one. I'm planning on keeping these completed sheets in a binder. It will be fun to look back on them in the months and years to come. I think it will be particularly helpful for those "down" and "blue" times. We all have moments when we need reminders of how remarkable our lives are.
To thank my newsletter subscribers, I've designed this celebration board to download.
Print it, color it, post it, and have fun filling in and around the playful shapes. Or, design one of your own. I'd love to see how and what you celebrate.

Thanks for stopping by!
Now let's celebrate!
