My Faerie Mermaid

Deb LaPointe of Griffinhill made me this charming faerie mermaid.

The mermaid is sitting in a "spa" that is heated by a flame. Look below and you'll see the glow from the flame. Now how cool is that? We mermaids do enjoy a steamy hot tub from time to time.

Looking down on the sculpture offers an interesting perspective. I love all of the curved lines and levels.

Every angle of this piece is captivating.

I can get lost in the details.

The faerie mermaid is looking for her Mr. Wonderful. She can't quite see him, even though she knows he is close by.

If you look closely, you'll catch a glimpse of her Mr. Wonderful. Hopefully he will find his way up to the steamy hot tub, I can see her mermaid tail is wagging in eager anticipation!

I adore my faerie mermaid. To give you an idea of scale, she is only about 1-1/2" tall and the overall structure is about 9-1/2" tall. I'm feeling like pretty lucky to have this treasure. I love that it was custom made just for me!

Squirrels and Fairy Homes

In one of the gardens at Strawberry Banke's Fairy Home Tour, there were several fairy homes including this one.

I liked the outdoor patio set made of sea dollars and sea shells.

Coppal Hill Farm in Lee, NH made a fairy home out of a pumpkin. This farm is known for their corn mazes. 

I spied a chipmunk dining on the corn.

He was really getting into his lunch.

I have to say this little rascal was pretty darn cute.

At this point in our tour the children began to show up. The place filled with little girls all dressed with wings and fancy outfits. Here was one who was interested in pulling apples from the tree.

I captured a few more darling fairy moments that I'll share this week. In the meantime, I will be gearing up for the annual Women's Caucus for Arts 6x6 show. I'm heading over to the gallery tomorrow to get a sneak peek of the show. I understand there are 400 works of art.

Fairy Homes for wee spaces.

This fairy home is nestled in a container.

A dried gourd is a perfect material for a fairy home.

Nestled among some grass and succulents is a swing for two.

Here is a swing for one.

Garlands of mica pieces and dried hydrangea add a little whimsy.

Don't you think a garland makes it festive?

I love the idea of creating a spot for fairies in a large container. This is a perfect solution for those of us who live in flats and small spaces.

Deluxe Fairy Spa

Today's fairy spa has two deluxe features.

Check out this roof made of dried flowers - simply stunning.

Here is a peek inside. Let's soak in the tub and rest our weary souls. Don't you love the "lights" in the background made of eucalyptus pods? Oh so mod.

This sink is absolutely brilliant. It is definitely better than the one in my bathroom.

Breakfast at the Fairy Home

Let's stop at this fairy home for some breakfast.

It really does have the ultimate kitchen.

Pull up a seat.

Don't forget to wash your hands first.

Are you more of an egg person or perhaps pancakes or waffles?

I typically eat fruit only for breakfast but on special occasions I love a good omelette, or as I like to call them yum-lette.

Fairy Lounge

Here is a darling place to escape to. We are experiencing some unusually early snowy weather. No matter where you are and what weather you are experiencing, I invite you to hang out at this fairy lounge. (click image to enlarge.)

We can take turns in this swing made of dried herbs.

If we get chilly we can stoke the chimney.

Take a strong wiff as you hang out in this lounge, your lungs will fill up with the sweet smell of dried herbs and flowers.

A Sweet Fairy Retreat

Today's featured fairy home is so precious. Click on the image to enlarge.

Look at all of the details. Shall we stay a while and read some fairy tales?

If you look all the way to the other end you can see that they have hung up their clothes to dry.

Let's take turns on the swing and see who can swing the highest.

This little fairy home would make for a sweet retreat.

A Fairy Castle

In one of the gardens at Strawberry Banke in Portsmouth I found this fairy castle!

Check out the shingled roof and details on the windows. I love the contrast of the white bark against the green ferns.

The accents of flowers and blue feathers in the castle garden are so sweet.

Eclectic Mix of Fairy Homes

Today's selection of fairy homes are so varied. Don't you love the piece of wood in the foreground? He looks like a cartoon character.

Nestled in this bramble are some cozy homes. Let's take a closer look at some of them.

It looks like fairies could fly in this one.

It is starting to get cold here in New England. I think this fairy home looks warm and cozy.

If you look on the forest floor it is adorned with beautiful pieces of dried milkweeds, mussels, and assorted flowers.

At one end of this fairy home is a gorgeous garden.

As we move closer in we can see the dining room and the table is set. Check out those mod stools.

Look at the bird made of crab shells over looking the living room.

Here is the living room.

Let's sit here with a cocktail and visit for a while.

Rustic Fairy Homes

Fairy Houses are small structures for the fairies and nature’s friends to visit. Sticks, bark, dry grasses, pebbles, shells, feathers, seaweed, pine cones and nuts are just some of the natural materials used. Ranging from rustic to intricate ‘Fairy Mansions’, these whimsical habitats are built by children, families, gardeners and nature lovers reflecting their creativity, joy and pride.

An "authentic" fairy house uses only natural materials.

This structure was a delightful space for children to enter and let their creativity roam.

I loved the accents of hops and Japanese lanterns.

Unusual branches and pieces of wood add interest as well as structure to this unique home.
