I love sharing photos of my journal each week here on my blog, but there are times when I have some private things that I want to document in my journal that I don't feel comfortable making public.
This week, I created a few spots for those private thoughts.
Before we look at those secret containers, let's begin this post with the left side of this journal spread. I printed a copy of the gorgeous collaborative mandala that I organized. It was so amazing to come up with this idea, design the pieces, invite people to participate, and then piece it all together. 34 artists from 11 countries were given a petal and asked to alter them in a specific color. They could do anything with the piece including adding journaling, illustrations, and use any medium. I asked them to think about their positive intentions for the year and their "word-for-the-year." Around the mandala in the boxes, I made some notes about my week. I had fun filling up the Tuesday box with snowflakes. We were hit hard that day with a snowstorm. I loved that there was a parking ban until noon on Wednesday. That meant our office couldn't open until the ban was lifted. This gave me the opportunity to get some extra rest. I've been recovering from an infection that really drained my energy.
On the facing page I filled it up with various tags and collage items. Several of these pieces (the tree, book illustration, butterfly, groovy pattern and the little envelope) came for a handmade card that a friend gave me. She had picked it up while vacationing in Maine. I liked the elements so much that I carefully detached them from the card and rearranged them to fit onto my page.
The top left is a tag that I made cutting up an image from an old National Geographic page. The be-YOU-tiful tag was from Hallmark.
Now I have some private spots to record my thoughts and feelings, yet I can still share my journal here with you. This was so easy to make too. All you have to do is cut a piece of paper, fold it in half and then paste it in. Voila!
When I read the little message that was tucked into the envelope, my heart smiled. I've been working hard on my dreams these days and this little note is reassurance to GO FOR IT in a BIG WAY.
I hope you'll find come creative ways to protect your dreams.
