Love this Kathryn!

I have found if I can just eliminate wheat from my diet I feel 200% better. It happens quickly too. The energy levels increase, I don't hit that 2-3 PM afternoon slump and in a week or so I can drop 5 pounds of fluid from my hands, ankles and legs, I also find that I sleep better. I can usually maintain the stricter diet for several months at a time and then due to holidays, laziness, whatever I slip backwards. :)
I am about 5 days back into a 'cleanse' and love it!! Hoping to keep up the will power to sustain it indefinitely this time! :)

Abbie, that is fantastic! It is amazing how quickly the body responds. It goes to show that our bodies really do want to be healthy. I love getting rid of that bloated feeling. Keep up the good work! xoxo Kathryn

Thanks for sharing this. Everything looks delicious. It has been about a week since I went absolutely no sugar or dairy. I drink iced tea (mostly herbal) but I do get a bit of caffeine. Gave up Gluten a while back. Noticed today that my head does seem clear and less stressed.

Hi Kathryn!
I love what you are doing for your body and health.
I have one question: Are you getting enough protein? I didn't see much of it listed and it is a concern because of age, female issues and regulating the proper balance in the body.
I am really excited to see how you are doing thru this process and know that I do care about the results you are achieving!
Hugs! Shelley

I am starting tomorrow. I'm not sure I can handle the whole cold turkey thing, but I am going to be making some huge changes for me and my family. Im thinking wheat/gluten, dairy, and sugar first mainly for me and my oldest son who has autism. Can't wait to see your resources!

Way to go Gemma! Keep me posted on how it goes for you. You are going to feel better and better! You go girl!

Shelley, thank you for asking. I know how much you are looking out for me. Your question is good as it gave me the opportunity to review this.

The DRI (Dietary Reference Intake) is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight, or 0.36 grams per pound (1). This amounts to (2, 3): 56 grams per day for the average sedentary man. 46 grams per day for the average sedentary woman.

This is where I'm getting my protein these days:
chicken (30 g)
salmon (40 g)
cod (41 g)
quinoa (24 g) in 1 cup
almonds (20 g) in 1 cup (I will snack on almonds in the afternoon if I need some. I put a handful in my salad.
chia seeds (4.7 g)
pumpkin seeds (12 g) in 1 cup. I eat a small handful.
sunflower seeds (29 g) in 1 cup. I eat about 2 TBS.

46 grams adds up pretty quickly.

Amy - You are giving yourself and your loved ones a gift. To get you started, I recommend Dr. Alejandro's book, "Clean." He provides some really good background information. I want to hear how things go for you. Stay in touch!

Hugs to you all. I love sharing what I've discovered and I know I'll learn from all of you. Let me know what you learn too!

Diane

Is there a portion size to the salad, fruit bowl that you have daily ? How much chicken/fish at dinner?

Kathryn - Collage Diva

Hi Diane,

I don't really measure my food. I do have some glass containers that I use to pack my food. The salad container holds about 4 cups and the fruit is equivalent to 2 servings. Because my diet is so clean, I don't worry about portions except for the fruit and grains. I tend to go easy on the brown rice and quinoa. Raw vegetables are a free for all, I feel like I can eat as much as what fills me up. Hope this is helpful to you.
