I've been enjoying my mini creativity sessions each day. I make a heart out of paper and journal on the back side. I seem to be drawn to the color teal. I think my third heart, made by simply cutting a tropical setting offers a clue to what I desire (hint: to relocate to a breathtaking location where white winters are a distant memory.)
A message cut out from a magazine provides a starting point for my journal writing.
I kicked into Collage Diva mode with the next three hearts and collaged randomly selected images. I love that there are no rules to making these hearts - it's truly whatever the heart desires.
I found the perfect words and phrases to paste onto my hearts. Ever since my recent retreat, silence has been something that I've sought more of...silence to listen deeply.
I sat at my kitchen table with lots of images auditioning for a place in one of my hearts.
This heart began with the image of the two chairs. The bird flew in next followed by the window. The last element to join the party was the viking. I thought of Joseph Campbell as this heart filled in and wondered what stories he might share with me about the hero's journey.
This heart has layered several textures and patterns - I particularly like the gnarly wires under the orderly "containers."
And the figure on top, I'm not sure what message he bears. Any ideas?
I think when I journal on the back of this heart, I'll invite this character to have a conversation with me. Let's see I'll brew us up some lovely Earl Grey or perhaps I'll pour us some red wine.
collage + hearts + journaling = creative joy!
