It is easy to be grateful for the good things happening in our lives - cooperative kids, a secure job, plenty of fresh water and food to eat. As I continue with my daily gratitude practice, I'm finding that it is even more important to be grateful for the grit. Looking back on my life I see how everything that has happened, the good and the bad, has led me to where I'm at today. Each disappointment, setback, and bump in the road formed me in some way.
Throughout the Creative Joy Retreat we asked the questions, "What is the grit? What is the pearl?"
As I look up at this yellow wall, I see reflected in it a lifetime of gritty moments and I'm feeling grateful for it has smoothed me and humbled me just as a piece of wood that has been sanded down or a piece of glass been worked over by the ocean's wave.
When we spoke of the pearls in the retreat it was often the life lessons we gleaned from the grit but today I'm seeing that I am the pearl - not the opportunities or gifts that have come my way, but me. Me, just as I am, grit and all.
What challenge are you facing today? How are you softening from it? Can you see how you are the pearl?
Brightest blessings to you today as you explore your pearliness among the grit.
Love to you all,
