A Lasting Impression

I had a wonderful two weeks with my son over the holidays. On his first night, I pulled out an old typewriter that I have on loan from a colleague.

This was my son's first attempt at using a typewriter.

He learned quickly that you have to press hard on the keys and you can't type too quickly.

He figured out right away that you need to type the lower case l when you want the number 1. He also liked the fraction keys.

He really thought it was so cool. It came as no surprise that one of the first things he typed was the number pi. You can see he stopped after a few digits.

I will surely miss him, but our time together will have a lasting impression.

Discover a Secret Cathedral

I'm having fun playing in Photoshop. I've been yearning for more time immersed in digital play. I'm so grateful for my skills in Photoshop - I don't think much about the tools that I use when I'm creating. It is a great feeling to lose myself in the layers as I uncover and connect different images.

Deep within the Forest of Wishes there lies a stone wall. Not everyone who visits the forest will find the entrance to a secret cathedral. I'm so happy you found your way here. You are welcome any time you need a quiet respite to rest your weary bones and to soothe your soul.

The collage is simply a composite of three photos. The top layer is this forest.

The second layer is this stone wall.

The bottom most layer is the interior of a cathedral.

I'm looking forward to creating more digital collages and sacred spaces in 2012. Stay tuned!

A Swan Connection

As I sat down to write in my journal this morning I looked over at a collection of 6" x 6" tiles hanging on my wall. I took a closer look and rediscovered the collage by friend and artist Don Desmarais with the beautiful swans. Did you see my Journey of the Heart Journal post this week about INTUITION and GRACE? I write about the story of SWAN.

It was last spring when Don invited me to pick out one of his Dreamscape collages as a thank you present. There were so many to choose from. The photos on his website don't reveal all of the details. What was really cool was how I trusted my intuition and selected the one pictured above. Now many months later, I see that I my intuition picked the perfect piece for not only do the swans symbolize so much in my time of transition but the words in the upper corner, Lien to connect, unite, offer great guide words as I consider the direction I will head in 2012.

Believe & Trust

It is easy to question ourselves and where we are at in life. It really comes down to believing in ourselves and trusting that we are right where we need to be.

A Dove chocolate wrapper gave me a pearl of wisdom, "Don't think about it so much." This little wrapper's message has been so helpful to me over the last few years. My body and spirit can get pretty exhausted when I don't give my mind a break.

Light a second inner candle.

For my day job, I prepared some graphics and resources for Advent. Pictured above is the main graphic for this second week in Advent. I thought this message tied in so nicely with my weekly Journey of the Heart Journal theme on divine timing. 

There have been times when I've felt all wound up with desire for change in my life. When I let go of these feelings, to really surrender and trust in the divine, the pressure lifts and I fully enjoy the present moment. I no longer struggle.

May you find a little time each morning to light that second inner candle and fill your heart with hope and trust.
