I love pink and orange together and have been wanting to play with this color combination for some time now. Journals offer a great place to experiment where we don't need to worry about the results. Pictured above are some photos I collected from the web. I sampled the colors to create a palette.
I started with painting the background with colors. I went back in with black paint and added some of the patterns from the samples in my palette.
Here is another page from my journal. I can see working with some of these design elements for various projects.
The farmer's market in Concord, NH is a great spot for snapping photos.
baked goodies are all great subjects.
But the people are by far my favorite part of the farmer's market. They are so passionate about what they have to offer. Pictured here is one of the Two Garlic Sisters.
She had scapes for sale.
Don't miss the upcoming Garlic Day on September 17, 2011 from 9 - 4 p.m. at 23 Clough Tavern Road, Canterbury, NH. Ooooh can't wait to go and take in the garlic tasting, garlic smells, and garlic sights.
Here is a look inside a small journal. I'm playing with altering scanned painted papers and desaturating photos to create interesting backgrounds.
This is a look at the original photo in color.
Here I played with layering different typefaces.
I call this piece, "Shining a Light on Kindness."
I had an unfortunate exchange of e-mails last week from a woman who in the end, when she didn't get what she wanted, resorted to saying some unkind things. It has me thinking about how much we project onto others. In our actions are we coming from a place of strength or fear, of abundance or lack? I've been blogging and corresponding with people all over the world for three years now and I've never had an experience like this. Fortunately, I have so many wonderful and thoughtful connections in my life. I won't let this one incident cloud my vision. I'm keeping a light on and seeing the kindness in others.
The Magnet Open Art Project will be on display at the Minor Threat Pop-up Gallery tomorrow night. I heard that they collected refrigerator doors from the dump to display the magnets and I was invited to swing by tonight to get sneak peek.
250 artists from all over the world submitted artwork.
Two magnets were printed of each design - one to give to the artist and one that is on display for one night only at the pop up gallery and then...
will be dispersed in downtown Concord, NH. People who see the magnets in town are welcome to take one to keep, for FREE! Each magnet is numbered and catalogued on www.artconcord.blogspot.com.
You can see my "Pandora" photo pictured above (#15).
The project was FREE to artists who participated, thanks to the generous sponsors including:
