After work last night I stopped by Barnes & Noble with a gift card in hand. What will I find? It dawned on me that we were well into January and I hadn't seen the newest issue of Cloth, Paper, Scissors. Have you seen it? Oh look, it is right there on the top shelf.
On the corner of the cover it reads, "meet the 2011 artisans!" p. 29 here I come.
Flip the page and I think you'll recognize someone. Can you see it? Look closer.
I came very close to doing one of my crazy happy dances in the store. Maybe if I had a friend with me I would have busted a few silly moves. This my friends is the very first time my artwork has appeared in a magazine. (One exception is the zine we have at work, but I don't count that.)
I'm so grateful for one very dedicated visitor to my blog who e-mailed me last summer about this contest. I can't tell you enough just how touched I am by the love and support that I receive from my readers.
Subject Line:
Oh Diva, It's Opportunity Knocking!!!!
Message Extract:
Oh Dear Diva -
When I saw the info in the most recent (May/June) issue of Cloth Paper
Scissors Magazine, and also read your post about how you are expanding
your work in so many different directions, including submitting
something for publication (congratulations on taking that first
step!!!) I just had to write and tell you about this. You probably
already know about it, but as one of your adoring fans (even if I
don't post and read as often as I used to) I HAD to be sure you knew
about this.
In the mail this week was this card designed by Lisa a frequent visitor to my blog who lives in Salida, Colorado. I admire her calligraphy skills. Hmmmmm. Sparkling Days. I'm going to keep this card out throughout the year to remind me to create sparkling days often.
Here's to you dear Lisa and all of the kindred spirits. You inspire me too!
Just now I picked up an e-card from another reader. It was like a little angel sent me this message. It reads,
Imagine...
all the possibilities that await you
...and make
this new year
your
dream-come-true year.
Aahhhhhhh. My dream-come-true year. I like the sounds of that. I think I'll try out my own calligraphy skills to make a little sign with these words to remind me of this inspired greeting.
Oh and Rhonda added the following:
May your dreams be supported by boundless love, magnificent health, empowering inspiration, belief in yourself, courage, daring beginnings, exciting moments and great prosperity.
Sent with love from Rhonda Luongo
Thank you Rhonda. You are an angel for thinking of me and sending this card.
Now, isn't it a wonderful world?
If you found yourself to this blog post and you are reading this. I have a message for you. Yes, this goes out to the wonderful you. Can you find yourself on this map?
I know your are there.
Here I am looking back at you.
Here is my message for you today:
Take heart dear one and know that you are loved by so many. And someone you don't even know looks at you with admiration and love.
You have a light within that shines with such beauty. This light is unique to you. Whether it appears to you to be dim or blazing bright, your light is always there. Tend your light, give yourself love first and then as your light grows, reach out and share your light with the world. We need you.
Today, I'm grateful for those who I have never met yet have reached out and connected. Keep tending your light and spreading that love of yours.
Namaste,
Kathryn, Collage Diva

This is the first time I have found your blog. I enjoy your energy and optimism. Congratulations on being published. That is my goal for 2011. Thanks for the encouragement.

Yay, Kathryn!!! So proud to see you in print. I recently stumbled onto Katie Melua and really like her voice, so the video (and introduction to Eva Cassidy) was a special treat. Thanks for sharing! <3

Thank you for sharing this post. The video was amazing. And your message about the light shining in each of us touched my heart. My one word for 2011 is shine, and after reading your post, I was finally able to write about my word and post it. Thank you so much for sharing your light and love with all of us!
