Trust that you have enough light for the journey.
"Often we want to be able to see into the future. We say, "How will next year be for me? Where will I be five or ten years from now?" There are no answers to these questions. Mostly we have just enough light to see the next step: what we have to do in the coming hour or the following day. The art of living is to enjoy what we can see and not complain about what remains in the dark. When we are able to take the next step with the trust that we will have enough light for the step that follows, we can walk through life with joy and be surprised at how far we go. Let's rejoice in the little light we carry and not ask for the great beam that would take all shadows away." These reflections are taken from Henri J.M. Nouwen's Bread for the Journey.
I subscribe to a daily e-mail from the Henri Nouwen Society. For the last year, Nouwen's words have been so timely. Just this week I've been thinking about our own light. Now Nouwen gives me another beautiful image to think about, the light that guides us on our journey. I'm a goal setter and when I have my eye on the prize, I am pretty focused. There are times though when I get restless and want things to move faster. Nouwen's words echo where I'm at today - trusting and feeling joy.
I am grateful to Henri Nouwen and the society that keeps his work an active part of my life. Nouwen's words add light to my journey.
{Note: The photos are of a paper lamp that I've had for years and never really photographed before. I think the first photo has potential for adding it as a texture to alter photos.}
I love the lyrics in this video and McCabe did a beautiful job putting this together. I know that I am exactly where I need to be. I hope you feel the same about where you are at.
Have a lovely day friends!
Namaste,
Kathryn, Collage Diva

May our new year be full of love and light and peace and joy
Love you
Jeanne

You're right about that first photo of the lamp, Kathryn. Hopefully you can play with it this weekend. :-) Has anyone figured out the title to the song in the video (it's gotta be Ani DiFranco, right?!)? Here's to SHINING our light! <3
