She shared with me the history of many of the pieces. I loved how she would tap the pieces to produce a beautiful sound. Pictured here is perhaps my favorite piece, a very old ice bucket. It looks like a crown to me.
Nancy is known for her Hummel collection. She rotates in this cabinet different figures. Another cabinet houses over a 100 pieces. Aren't they sweet? I love the little girl with the blue flowers - she is the "botanist."
Nancy and my dad married when I was about 7 years old. We go waaaaay back. We had a very difficult relationship over the years. I'm so grateful that now we truly enjoy each others company. We are both relaxed and can appreciate each other. Last night on my drive home, my son commented on how much we have all grown so close since my dad's accident. It was perhaps the best thing that came out of this difficult time. For me, I've let go of the old childhood hurts and I seek to meet people where they are at. My friends who have known me for years would never have predicted that I would have this great relationship with my stepmother. It is crystal clear how we both have changed - and I'm so very grateful that we have.
What relationships do you have in your life that haven't been so easy? Can you let go of the pain and recognize where you and they are at now? Forgiveness is powerful medicine.
