Today's post features a little gift that I made in honor of my dear friend's birthday. Pictured above is a mini altar that I altered with old postage stamps, gold acrylic paint, and dresden.
I also used a walnut stain to add more of an aged look to the stamps before gluing them down.
The gifts were wrapped with paper I had made. I painted over rice paper where I practiced my Chinese brush painting.
I started by rolling ink onto the page and then stamped on other shapes using stencils and a foam stamp.
I was surprised when I turned one gift over to find that the flap aligned perfectly with another shape forming a cross. I couldn't have planned that better!
Happy Birthday Bobbi!

Just lovely Kathryn!
Exactly how tiny is it though?
There was nothing to give it scale but the stamps, so I'm assuming it's tiny, right?

The inside image is an inchie! Thats right, 1 x 1. The overall altar is about 2 tall.

How lucky your friend is! This is gorgeous. It is hard to imagine it is only about 2 inches tall. What patience you must have. The paper is wonderful. It will be like getting two gifts.

I love altars. This to me is a luminous gift and they can even travel with their altar.
