Chapter 9 in "The 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women" by Gail McKeekin is all about strategies for dealing with rejections and roadblocks. I blogged about my reactions to the chapter in the previous post. Peppy Lady another creative blogger left me the following comment:
I thought I would post here how I responded:
Any time there is human interaction there is politics. Sadly getting anywhere involves "who you know." Having said this, "I am an optimist." In recent months, I'm noticing how I'm attracting people in my life who are becoming my alleys in this unknown territory where my dreams are becoming a reality. I believe, that I've discovered my rightful work, my life's work. I'm now compelled to work on my dream project - I wake up at odd hours of the night. The time I spend on it is fills me with such joy. Last fall I wrote a prompt for my Soul Journal project called the Web of Love. The love that fills my work is love that I cast out through my blog and in my interactions with people I meet in the day. This web of love is a net that attracts and catches those who feel the love and "get it."
For me my dream project is not an option for me. I no longer struggle with the fact that I have to work at a job that isn't where I want to be. I need the paycheck and it is where I need to be right now as I transition into making my dreams a reality. As I work on my dream project, I'm not worried about paying my bills. I have no threats of any agent or editor or publisher with their deadlines or input. There will be time for those deadlines and feedback, but for now I'm in the formation stages and loving the process of discovery and creation.
If you are intrigued by my Web of Love you can venture, HERE at www.collagediva.com/souljournal to find this and other art journaling prompts with soul.
Thanks for your e-mail. Responding to your comments have helped me to put in words how I see where I'm at on my creative journey.

I know if I do billable work, I can make my art totally free to follow it's own muse with absolutly no marketplace pressure.
I see the billable work as the structure to allow the voice to thrive in the soul work . . . .
not as selling out as all - your post really resonated with me - thanks!

I just realized something. Spiders (dangling from their webs) have been in my dreams a few times recently, yet not in a bad way. It never occurred to me- the web of love.
As always I wish the best for you and am sending a web of wishes that all of your hopes and dreams come true:)
